What is your recommended setup for the Whatwatt Go in a MFH?

Hi

What is your recommended setup for the Whatwatt Go if the Meter is in the Celler of a apartment Block? As i would need Internetaccess and maybe extra Power too. Is there a Version with a Mobile Data Connection planed too? would that even be possible with the Power from the RJ12 Connector?

thanks

Hi Mike, sorry for no feedback for nearly 2 weeks–you caught us in the middle of the summer holidays season.

In your case, we suggest installing a Teltonika router RUT200 (e.g.: https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/teltonika-rut200-routers-24894388) and powering it separately. You can place it anywhere in the basement, as long as it can connect via WiFi to the whatwatt Go. We’d suggest first checking where mobile reception is best (near a window, for example), then confirming the WiFi connection to whatwatt Go still works from there–this is usually fine as long as it’s on the same floor and not too far from the Teltonika gateway.
For the SIM card, we recommend Flat 0.4 from Digital Republic: Die passende Daten-SIM für alle deine Geräte ab CHF 4.– / Monat - Digital Republic which costs 40 francs per year. Just make sure you have Sunrise network coverage in the basement first.
Unfortunately, powering the Teltonika router via RJ-12 from the smart meter isn’t possible–the power supply from the meter isn’t sufficient. We also do not offer a device with mobile router integrated. The development of such a device incl. certification is not worthwhile considering how few customers have a need for this.

Thanks for raising this point for the community.
